The Unipiper to Perform at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 3, 2015

Portland, Oregon - The year 2015 has been filled with a number of exciting firsts for Portland’s one-wheeled fire-breathing bagpiping wonder, including the release of his inaugural beer collaboration with Rogue Ales & Spirits, an IPA dubbed The UnipIPA, followed by his (albeit brief) appearance as Uncle Sam on the 10th season of America’s Got Talent.

Now The Unipiper is set to bring his blend of uniquely Portland talents to the world’s stage this August as he announces his participation in the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This will mark The Unipiper’s first appearance in Scotland, thus bringing the total number of items on his bucket list down by one. On August 30th, for one night and one performance only, he will debut an all-new half-hour stage show he is calling “The Unipiper – Bringing Balance to the Force” which will celebrate all that is great, geeky, and weird in America, translated through that most versatile of instruments, the Great Highland Bagpipe. No doubt this performance will help the festival live up to its official hastag, #‎WTFringe!? Fans should expect a thorough exploration of The Unipiper’s renowned repertoire from lightsabers to coconuts and everything in between not to mention a surprise or two along the way. This free performance is to take place at 7:30pm next to St. Giles’ Cathedral along Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile on the Mercat Stage, the largest of the Virgin Money Street Events venues at the festival. Immediately following the show The Unipiper will stick around for a meet and greet with enthusiastic fans and confused festival attendees alike.

About The Unipiper

With over 5.5 million views on his YouTube channel, The Unipiper was recently recognized as one of the Top 5 Weird Sights to See in Portland by PopSugar. For nearly 10 years, The Unipiper, also known as Brian Kidd, has been delighting Portland residents with his genre-bending portrayals of pop culture icons playing flame spouting bagpipes while riding a unicycle and in the process has turned into a viral sensation with a cult-like following. His one-wheeled antics have been featured across the web, from Gizmodo and CNN, to The Huffington Post and BuzzFeed in addition to television appearances on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', ‘Good Morning America’, ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’, and ‘The Soup’ among others. Recently The Unipiper performed in front of the celebrity judges and in front of viewers nation-wide on the 10th season of America’s Got Talent. This summer The Unipiper is busy ‘Keeping Portland Weird’ with weekly performances in front of Powell’s City of Books.
